Jubilee Day™ Celebrating 85 Years
Thursday, June 20, 2013; 10 AM – 9 PM
Downtown
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mechanicsburg, PA – June 6, 2013 – The largest, longest-running one-day street fair on the east coast is returning to the streets of downtown Mechanicsburg on Thursday, June 20th for its 85th annual edition. The media estimates that approximately 60,000 people attend the annual affair. Over 300 businesses, community groups, local artists, and unique craftsmen will line the streets for this event, which is presented each year by the Mechanicsburg Chamber of Commerce. At Jubilee Day™, there is something for everyone to enjoy – from mouth-watering food and unique shopping to a petting zoo and live entertainment.
One of the best parts about Jubilee Day is that admission is free. “Aside from hundreds of vendors, there are various attractions that keep people coming back year after year, with the majority of them being offered at no cost,” explains Jeff Palm, Executive Director of the Mechanicsburg Chamber of Commerce. Palm added that Immanuel Alliance Church will again offer their petting zoo this year behind Citizen’s Bank on
The festival also features a host of amusement rides and games at a nominal fee, and free entertainment throughout the day on two stages.
The 2013 entertainment lineup features Vinyl Groov, a regional R&B group delivering sounds and style similar to that of The Four Tops and The Temptations, as this year’s headline act. They will follow a full day of acts by local and regional performers, including local favorite Jazz Me Band, Voxology, Nate Myers and the Aces, and Disco Fever. In addition, Trez Music Rock and Jazz Bands, Rhythm on Main, Reach! Dance Troupe, and student and all-star bands from The Perfect 5th Musical Arts Center will also be performing. The All Star band is comprised of Perfect 5th teachers, including Jeremy Hummel, former drummer of platinum-selling rock artists ‘Breaking Benjamin’. For a complete schedule of
“With upwards of 60,000 people who attend, it is important to note that we offer free parking and shuttle bus transportation to and from the event, from Mechanicsburg High School’s parking lot, accessible from Williams Grove Road, and Immanuel Church on South Market Street in Mechanicsburg,” explains Palm.
This year’s Jubilee DayTM sponsors include The Pennsylvania Lottery and Pinnacle Health, both returning as Gold Sponsors. Also rounding out the list of 2013 sponsors are Wegmans, Lawrence Chevrolet, WINK 104.1, 105.7 The X, Z Country 106.7, Hot 93.5, Sprint, Coca-Cola Refreshments, PNC Bank, Sundance Vacations, CBS 21, CW 15, Maggie’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard, AllBetter Care Urgent Care Center and Belco Community Credit Union. “An event of this magnitude would not be possible without the support and generosity that these businesses provide,” says Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jeff Palm.
