Mechanicsburg’s Jubilee Day™ cancelled for 2020
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mechanicsburg, PA – May 1, 2020 – Due to the circumstances in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Board of Directors of the Mechanicsburg Chamber of Commerce has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 edition of Jubilee Day™. After careful consideration and with the guidance from the Borough of Mechanicsburg, Department of Health, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, it was deemed in the best interest of the health and safety of the vendors, attendees, and community at large not to hold what has become the unofficial start of the summer. Jubilee Day™ was originally scheduled for Thursday, June 18.
“It is extremely disappointing that we have had to cancel Jubilee Day™” said Jeff Palm, Executive Director of the Mechanicsburg Chamber of Commerce. “This is an event that is anticipated by many in the community for the social, entertainment, and economic factors. The effects of the current pandemic has created a severe strain on those that rely on Jubilee Day™ and festivals like it as they sell their wares or promote their cause. We appreciate all that participate in Jubilee Day™ every year, so we will take this in stride and start planning for the 2021 edition.”
Jubilee Day is the largest, longest running one day street fair on the east coast attracting up to 70,000 attendees. The 92nd edition of this annual event features more than 325 vendors from near and far offering food, games, arts & crafts, business information, retail products, carnival rides and more. There is a Children’s Area with activities for the very young, and live entertainment on two stages.
The festival takes place on Main Street from York Street to Walnut Street and on Market Street from Simpson Street to Strawberry Avenue. Festival Map 2021 Vendor Map (coming late May 2021)
Due to the large crowds and safety concerns, pets and bicycles are NOT welcome in the Jubilee Day festival route. Please do not bring your pets as you will be asked to leave the festival area.
Parking: FREE shuttle bus service will be offered from 2 convenient locations: Behind the Mechanicsburg Area Senior High School, 500 S. Broad Street (parking lot accessible from Williams Grove Road); and Immanuel Church, 800 South Market Street. Shuttle service runs from 10:30am – 9:00pm.
