Mechanicsburg, PA — June 14, 2007 — The 79th Annual Jubilee Day™ will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2007, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. in downtown Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. The event is the largest and longest running one day street fair in the eastern United States. Vendors, including artists, crafters, civic organizations and businesses, will line downtown streets. There will also be a wide variety of delicious food, fun games, amusement rides and a petting zoo for kids.

“There is something for everyone,” said John Anthony, president of the Mechanicsburg Chamber of Commerce, which presents the Jubilee Day™ every year. “This year will be the biggest event ever. We have over 300 vendors.”

Anthony pointed out that the event has a huge draw. “More than 60,000 people attend Jubilee Day™,” he said. “There is no other event like Jubilee Day™ in the region. It provides matchless opportunities for business and civic organizations to showcase products and services.”

Three stages will feature different entertainment all day. New this year is the Karaoke Contest to Benefit EMS, to be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Frankeberger Stage.

“We will be honoring area Emergency Medical Service providers during our Opening Ceremony on the Main Stage at noon on Jubilee Day™,” explained Anthony. “The Karaoke Contest is another way that we can pay tribute to these home-town heroes,” he said. “And, we’ll have fun while we are doing it!” The contest will raise funds for EMS and build awareness about their important work.

Those interested in participating in the Karaoke Contest to Benefit EMS can register for $5 on Jubilee Day™ at the Chamber of Commerce booth at the square or during the contest at Frankeberger Stage. Individuals can vote for their favorite Karaoke singers for $1 per vote. The top three favorite Karaoke singers, who get the most votes, will receive a cash prize of $100, $75 or $25, respectively.

Also on Frankeberger Stage at 11 a.m. is Fair Warning, a Christian band. The classic rock band, High Maintenance, will play at noon. Followed by the rock group, Balistic, which will play until 3 p.m. Jazz Me will perform on Frankeberger from 3:30 – 5 p.m. and again from 8 – 9 p.m. Frankeberger Stage is located on East Main Street.

A variety of acoustic and easy-listening entertainment will play throughout the day on the South Market Street Stage.

The Jubilee Day™ Main Stage is located on the square in Downtown Mechanicsburg. It will feature Jazz Me from 10 – 11:30 a.m.; Opening Ceremonies at noon; the U.S. Navy Band “Country Current” from 12:30 – 3 p.m.; and Eve to Adam from 4 – 4:45 p.m. The country group Carolina Rain will close out the Main Stage entertainment with a concert from 7:15 – 8:15 p.m.

“We have several new event sponsors this year,” said Anthony. Supporting the community through Jubilee Day™ sponsorship are Target, Wegmans, PNC, Domino’s Pizza, Tristan Associates, LHB Appliances and Water Systems, Maggie’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard, and A.C. Rimmer, Inc., AmeriChoice Federal Credit Union, After 7 Recording Studio, Walker Realty, Service Master, Inc., and H & R Block.

Citadel Broadcasting Stations, X 105.7, RED 102.3, and MIX 106.7, also sponsors the event. They will capitalize on enthusiasm for Jubilee Day™ by broadcasting all-day live.

“Local artist, Doug Kooser designed a very unique one-of-a-kind Jubilee Day t-shirt this year,” added Anthony. It features an animated design, prominently displaying the universal symbol for EMS – the Star of Life — and our sponsors’ logos. “It is sure to be a collectible!”

There will be free shuttle bus service from the following locations. Mechanicsburg Senior High School, off Williams Grove Road, and Immanuel Alliance Church at 800 South Market Street.
